490 HEAD OF PURE NELORE FATTENED AT GRAHAM LAND & CATTLE CO. 1992 - 2006 DATA COLLECTION BY TEXAS AGRICULTURE EXTENSION SERVICE AND TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY
  • Grading as Choice and Select YG2, they not only rank high with taste panels, but also with packers and feeders, while bringing good returns to the producer.
  • Nelore beef matches the recent shift in the beef industry towards a low calorie, leaner product, while not losing the characteristic beef flavor preferred by the customer.

"These steers have been everything you could ask for. Their dispositions are very good and their rate of gain and cost per pound of gain have been excellent."

Jim Jacobs
Chaparrosa Feedyard, Texas

"Overall, in my opinion, these cattle had an excellent set of carcasses for pure Bos indicus influence cattle but one typical of Nellore cattle."
Dr. Joe C. Paschal
Texas A&M University

The latest Texas A&M University study shows that of the 15 Nelore x Angus steers they raised and fed, 14 graded Choice and 1 Select; marbling was in the Slight category, and the Warner- Braxler shear force tested at 6.5. These types of steers would meet and exceed the modern industry's standards.
